The Tidewater Region has implemented a Trauma Triage Plan (  see icon below for link to free Acrobat reader) to help provide guidance for prehospital and hospital triage and transportation of trauma patients. The plan, included in the Regional Medical Protocols as Appendix I, was required by the Virginia General Assembly in 1998.

A Trauma Triage Quality Improvement Committee meets regularly to evaluate the EMS system's management of trauma patients*. The committee has developed a QI report form for any prehospital or hospital staff member to use to report any variances, questions or difficulties encountered within the regional trauma care system.
