Performance Improvement Coordinator

Peninsulas EMS Council, Inc. is looking to fill the part time position of Performance Improvement Coordinator. The Performance Improvement Coordinator plans, designs and proliferates appropriate performance improvement initiatives within the Peninsulas EMS Region.  He/she shall participate in case reviews, data collection and reporting; provides coordination and oversight activities in collaboration with agency and medical facilities’ quality management programs; ensures that providers, agencies and hospitals have the support, tools, and feedback needed to perform effective quality management programs; monitors the effectiveness of the PEMS regional protocols; completes or assists in other programs and requirements as directed.

 Minimum Education and Experience:

Certification as a Nationally Registered or Virginia Paramedic in good standing with the Virginia Office of EMS, three years of experience in emergency medical services work at the Paramedic or Intermediate level, and must possess and maintain a valid Virginia driver’s license with a good driving record.

 Preferred Requirements:

Associates Degree in health science or related field, two years EMS leadership experience, strong familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint), and Six Sigma background or similar program familiarity.

The Central Shenandoah EMS Council in Staunton, VA has an opening for an EMS Training Specialist. Responsibilities include teaching and coordinating Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support initial certification and continuing education training programs. The EMS Training Specialist also works as part of the team to establish and maintain program accreditation, write and maintain regional protocols, coordinate regional performance improvement programs, and coordinate regional EMS test sites.
Minimum Certification, Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree is preferred; Virginia EMT-B Instructor certification and Virginia Advanced Life Support Coordinator endorsement (may obtain both within six months of employment); minimum of Virginia EMT-Intermediate in good standing with the Virginia Office of EMS, EMTParamedic preferred; AHA BLS instructor and/or instructor potential is preferred but not required; ACLS, PALS, ITLS, and PEPP instructor and/or instructor potential is preferred;
documented experience and/or current certification in adult education may be a substitute for some educational requirements; valid Virginia drivers license with good driving record.
Salary Range (depending on experience): $28,000 – $36,000

Northampton County EMS is currently seeking applicants for a (1) Full-time EMT-P position (24/72) and (4) Part-time EMT-P/EMT-I positions. Northampton County is very rural, located in northeastern North Carolina approximately 1 1/2 hours north east of Raleigh and 2 hours from the coast.  We offer Aggressive protocols. Including Fentanyl, Versed, 12 lead transmission, CPAP, BIG IO (Adult and Pediatric) and Auto-Launch.

Prospective applicants must be at least a EMT-I for Part time and EMT-P  to be considered for full time employment. Applicants will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen, criminal, and driving check, oral boards for local credential, and a Scope of Practice exam.

Job Description: Provides advanced life support and medical emergency treatment to patients at the accident or illness scenes and during transport to medical facilities. Administers advanced life support techniques and procedures based on patient assessment. Work standards and procedures are well established and understood; however, considerable independence and judgment are required of the employee during an emergency call. Work is performed under general supervision. Will work 24/72 rotating shifts. 1-2 years experience in Emergency Medical Service work; or equivalent combination of education/experience.

Educational Requirements: HS diploma or GED. Must have certification by NC OEMS as an EMT-Intermediate and EMT-Paramedic.

Current NC driver’s license and current NC EMS credential with BTLS/PHTLS, ACLS, PALS, and CPR.

Normal Hiring Salary Range: EMT-Paramedic (FT) –Grade 68- $32,342 - $33,979 Base Pay

FIRE OPERATIONS OFFICER (Position #5152)

Norfolk Fire-Rescue Department:  Assignment could include either 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, or rotating shifts including days, nights, evenings, weekends, holidays and/or 24 hour shifts as Operations support equivalent to a 40 hour work week.

Description:
Provides assistance to staff as directed and relieves sworn staff of many non-enforcement/non-emergency duties.  Performs administrative or office duties of a routine nature as directed by a higher authority; transports information, supplies, equipment and people/patients; maintains various files and records; communicates information; conducts minor research and produces various reports; provides traffic or parking direction when required and other duties or additional training as assigned.

 Essential Functions:

  • Must possess a valid Virginia Drivers License.

  • Transports equipment, information and/or people among facilities by car or light vehicle to and between various locations and ensures proper vehicle maintenance.

  • Transport non-emergent patients to medical facilities.

  • Monitors, receives and records phone calls.

  • Maintains files and records.

  • Helps perform administrative and office duties.

  • Ability to attain within the probationary period (six months) Commonwealth of Virginia EMT-Basic certification.

  • Ability to learn and use Fire-Rescue/City of Norfolk computer systems.

  • Follows oral and/or written instructions to interpret local regulations.

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to lift/carry supplies, equipment, etc. as needed, up to 50 lbs.

  • Performs related duties and completes additional training as required.
